Accumulators are the most popular slip in Bangladesh and the most expensive one on the board. That is not an accusation against the operator — the pricing is transparent and the maths is public. It is just that almost nobody works it out, so here it is in taka.

Where the margin lives

On a two-way market a fair coin pays 2.00 each side. A bookmaker prices it 1.91 and 1.91, and the missing 0.09 on each side is the margin — roughly four and a half percent. Bet a single at 1.91 and you pay that margin once. Bet a four-fold and each leg carries its own, so you pay it four times over on the same slip.

Four evenly matched legs at 1.91 return 13.31 times your stake. Four fair coins would return 16.00. On a ৳500 slip that gap is ৳1,345 of expected value handed over — not lost to bad luck, handed over by the pricing before a ball is kicked. A single at 1.91 on a ৳500 stake gives up ৳21 of the same thing.

No — but they are entertainment spending, not strategy. A five-leg slip buys ninety minutes of caring about five matches for the price of one stake, and that is a real thing to buy. What it does not do is give you a better chance of profit than the same money on a single, and no combination of legs changes that. Price the fun honestly and the slip stops being a disappointment.

Money back if one leg lets you down sounds like a gift and is priced into the odds of the qualifying legs. Refunds also arrive as a free bet rather than cash, and a free bet returns winnings only — stake not included — which is worth about eighty percent of its face value. None of that makes the promotion bad; it makes it smaller than it looks.

- Different matches, not two markets from the same game — correlated legs are usually blocked, and when they are allowed they are priced against you.

- A stake you would be content to lose in full, because that is the most likely single outcome.
